964 Feb.26 Rantropas 7:30 a.m. - Sunny, no post or even faint some in Orinda. Moon almost full. Caught 0 mustelina, 3 heather, 2 Sorex (dead). Left traps set up for toms that held mine. Saw no cats. Rantrops again at 4 p.m. : 1 heather and 4 Sorex (all dead). Set all traps. Saw sparrow hawk chasing nestl, Feb.27 Rantrops 8:30 a.m.: 5 mustelina (2 of them died), 3 Heather, and 2 shrews (1 dead). (All shrews have been S. ornatus). Picked up traps. Sunny. no cats. Saw sparrow hawk on phone wire on supply truck holding dead mouse. March 2 Dead gray fox between Orinda and tunnel. Cat seen again on Orinda X-roads island. March 7 Photo of mustards in Orinda. Seals in Tilden. No cats. March 15 Gray tabby seen on Tilden area while driving past. March 25 Collected seals in Tilden in A.M. and P.M. Fetal being chased by sparrow hawk both times. Boldly-marked white-brown-black cat near rock outcrop both times. also all-black cat at Inspiration Point. Saw 1 large sealiform, 3 mole runways. About week 10 counted 11 fresh gopher sets along the seal trails. The spotted cat made 1 pause while being watched. Lots of fresh rodents at home. April 6-7-8. Picked up seals in Tilden - not many. Saw redtail, sparrow hawk, numerous gopher diggings, one piddled bird pathway. Lots of mustard flowering south of my area. Heavy past April 5, light past April 6 (in Orinda).
