1963 Dec.4 at 4:30 p.m. nothing in the traps. No cats cold, foggy. at 5 a.m. traps held (Lower Colburn) 1 Minks, 1 Ratter; Upper Colburn 3 Pervomavie, 1 Ratter. A black cat squashed on road about 100 yds from where I saw a live one yesterday. Did not run traps in p.m. Dec.5 Run traps at 8 a.m., cold + foggy. Lower line held 2 minks; Upper line held 1 Ratter and 1 Zorel. Total for 3 days of Colburn: 4 micrastus, 5 Ratters, 6 Peromyscus maniculatus, 1 zorel, 1 golden crowned x Dec.16 Set 100 Sherman on Tilden end at 4:30 p.m., cold and clear. Very few holes or runways, no cats seen. Dec.17 Run traps at 7:30 a.m. Cold, windy clear, although thick fog in lowlands. Frost on Orinda side of Inspiration Point but not on Tilden side, no cats, but cat and dog footprints and some fresh carnivore droppings. Traps held 1 dead Sorex plus 6 micrastus and 9 Ratters. Some of the minks with open vagina. Dec. In p.m. (4:30, clear, cold) are very sparse. Saw no cats. Traps in some places but left the 17 that held and this a.m. closed. Dec.18 Run traps at 6 a.m. Thick fog in valleys, my area just on opper edge of it. For about 50 yds at Inspiration Point the trees were heavily coated with frost (frozen fog), but none on Orinda side (too foggy) or on Tilden side. Traps held 1 live Sorex ornatus, 4 micrastus, 10 Ratters. Saw no cats.
