May 8 Weather overcast. No cats on brief tour. Party dsn at 11 p.m. but cloudy in A.M. and began raining while we were running traps at 8 A.M. Traps held 37 mice and 6 Beethors. Saw no cats. Closed traps, at 4 p.m. moved traps to alternate sites. No cats. Drizzle. May 9 Cloudy at 8 p.m. but clear later. Full moon. Run traps at 8 a.m. 51 mice, 8 Beethors. No cats. Picked up traps Scats from Big Spring Canyon on May 5 had 23 mice, 2 Beethors, 2 gobber, no cat tops. May 11 Picked up scats on a few of the trails in Tidden, but found only a few. Saw 1 dark cat. Many gobber diggings along trails. Found one dead young? gobber with blood in open burrow, no obvious decertifice when skinned. May 12 Put up a 30 x 30" enclosure (1/2" hardware cloth) in Orvade pasture at a place with fair oats + grass stand a few yards from the edge of an abused area where the grasses are almost gone, to be burned at enclosure #1. Took photos of it and of site for enclosure #2. May 13 About 20 live traps in stable and pigeon cools caugth 4 mice and 10 Peromyscus trueis May 16 Picked up scats on most of the big trails on Tidden area; only a few. Saw no cats. Many fresh gobber diggings and some moles. Surveyors working on area. Warm & sunny. May 22 Picked up scats in Tidden. Saw no cats, but 3 large live Serbortus and 1 dead one on top of a boulder. ! Peeping Tom. Mustard blooming.
