1963 Pearson Feb.22. Tilden. Ran good at Colburn at 6:30 a.m. and good at 7:30. Bird had 17 Mikes and 39 Rethros. Two of the mikes died in traps. Picked up traps. Lower Colburn had 3 mikes and 8 Rethro; Upper Colburn had 3 mikes and 4 Rethro. See Feb-26 for summary. at daybreak saw barnat owl sail out of Eucalyptus tall 50 grape in straight dive and plunge into grass about 100 yards out in grass of my area, after about 1/2 minute it flew back to mineral springs eucalyptus grave, carrying nothing. Also 2 cats on area, one dark and one with considerable white on lower parts. Feb-23 Orinda. Walked in hills around Sleepy Hollow Pool and saw no runways. Lots of deer + cat tracks, Feb-24 at home see lots of rabbits but have seen no quail lately. Today a housecat seen several times in pasture and a black brown bobtail on Howard's hill. Lots of runways in pasture. Feb.26 Picked up cats in Tilden in A.M. Ranown and cat tracks in wood. Two (sparrow hawk, 1 ringneck dove), no cats.
