Aug 4 Horned owls seen & heard several times in recent weeks. Still lots of brush rabbits.
Aug 21 Dine at model airplane field in Tidden; saw 1 cat, black & white. A few rabbits around home.
Aug 23. Picked up scat on all trails on the Tidden study area = 2 1/2 quarts. 3 of them goory-pooch. Saw 1 cat on the area, a smoky gray one.
Sept 5 Two horned owls hooting at Orinda Point few evenings. Picked up 2 pellets under oak at bottom of pasture. Still a fair number of brush rabbits around. Pasture has partly given grass stems (ryegrass?) in some places, plus occasional green composites. Dinner has been cool
Sept 10 Tracked on a few Tidden trails and staked half the Sepiroas and found only 2 scats. Saw no cats. One more owl pellet at Orinda pasture.
Sept 26 Covered about half the trails in Tidden, also picking up scats. Saw 1 cat on area, a smoky gray one with insignificant brown stripes, probably same one as on Aug 23. None of the scats fresh (wet). Brief visits on Sept 18 and 24 with Krebs; saw no cats, although on Sept 18 saw one on Inspiration Point - Orinda road. It crouched and stared at me (parked) for about 5 minutes, then it bounded at high speed about 150 yards into chaparral.
Bob Stephins found litter / young fattern in thick weeds east of Tidden golf course last year.
