June 7 at 8 a.m. traps held 5 meadowlarks (1 on lower line, 4 on upper). saw gray & white cat at Inspiration Point.
June 10 still lots of brush rabbits around, including young ones. no young quail yet. mustard still flowering.
set bottom 6 rows of Orinda grid at 8 p.m. (quiet hours)
72 traps. a few collections of cuttings and one fairly good runway seen. One board owl seen at edge of pasture, but he would have little hope of catching mice in the 4-5-6-foot high grass-thistle-mustard that covers most of the pasture.
June 11 at 7 a.m. traps held one young Rutherford's ground squirrel. Closed traps. moved traps to upper 6 lines of grid at 8 p.m. = 72 traps.
June 12 at 7 a.m. traps held 3 meadowlarks and 1 Rutherford's ground squirrel.
all 3 meadowlarks were in adjacent traps along fence A1, B1, C1, all adult. Picked up alternate traps and left others set, hence A 2, A4, A6, etc., B1, B3, B5 etc = 36 traps, while during the day caught 1 meadowlark (a repeat) 15 feet away). added alternate traps to rest of grid at 8 p.m. = 72 traps.
June 13 at 7 a.m. traps held 1 Jerusalem cricket. Fades like about 2 Rutherford's ground squirrels and 3 meadowlarks per acre.
at 4:30 put 50 Sherman's at Charlie Hill Rd, Orinda. no runway seen.
June 14 at 7 a.m. traps held 3 Rutherford's ground squirrels, 1 mouse, 1 deer mouse, and 1 Jerusalem cricket. Trapped and released one of the luthrae (obviously a june).
June 15 at 8 a.m. some traps held 1 Rutherford's ground squirrel and 1 large king snake.
July 24 Picked up scats on Tilden study area, around sequoia trees and some of the lower trails. Saw no cats.
