Pearson 1962 May 1 Traps at 6:30 am held 7 Micratus and 3 Rethro. May 2 Same trapping as yesterday, left set. At 9 am held 2 micratus, 1 Rethro, and 4 Xerocrotus.. May 17 Collected first vegetation sample from Tilden Grid. Grasses just begining to dry up; completely dry in a few places. Saw no cats. May 18 Collected 2 more vegetation samples. No cats, no modern mouse runs. May 21 One more vegetation sample. No cats. While collecting the 4 samples so far, including digging the roots, I have seen only one small green caterpillar, one earwig, and 5 saw flies. May 21 Set 70 Sherman's in Crida, above the end of Barbara Rd., near the tops of its big mud slide. Many in their mustard in full bloom, 5pm. May 22 Traps at 7:30 am held 2 young Rethro's. Spring continues to be sunny and cool. May 23 Traps not checked yesterday afternoon. This morning held 2 Xerocrotus and 1 Rethro. May 25 Collected last (5 th) plant sample from Tilden Grid. Saw 5 saw flies and one fuzzy caterpillar while collecting it. No cats. May 28 At 2 p.m. put 80 Sherman's at end of Barbara Rd., lots of mustard still blooming. Saw no runways. May 29 At 7:30 a.m. Trap held 3 Cero micrometatus, 1 Cero truis, 3 Micratus (in 3 consecutive traps in this coming), and 3 Rethro (all young ones). Released Perse.
