March 12 at 4 p.m., set 75 therms on steep weedy slopes (common mustard) at end of Barbara Rd in Ouida. Cool, sunny, a few holes that look like moisture. March 13 at 8 a.m. (sunny, fast) traps held 3 moisture, 19 butterflies (sic), 3 mice and 1 large ornithine. 1 mouse leaping, nothing else very. Left traps set. March 14 ran traps at 8 a.m. Clear, light frost. 3 moisture, 5 butterflies, 2 mice, 1 Desert hawker, and 1 large ornithine picked up traps. March 19 Picked up mites in Tilden along trails only. No cate. March 26 " " " " " along rest of trails. Total for March 19 + 26 = 1 qt. Saw no cate, good mustard is beginning to flower in pasture in Ouida. Some fields have been blowing for a couple of weeks, but others such as at Ched Hill Oregon not even started yet. at 5 p.m. set lower 7 rows of the grid in Ouida pasture = 84 thermes. Lots of grass and mustard but only a few good holes. March 27 Night clear, heavy dew. Only one mouse, a large S moisture with a tick attached to face and hair all gone near it. Closed traps 7 a.m. Picked up every other trap at 5 p.m. and set them at mayother station on upper row of grid = 72 traps. March 28 at 7 a.m. traps held 4 moisture, one of them reflect from yesterday. Left traps open during day. Caught 1 mouse and 1 skink. Moved traps to alternate site = 72 traps.
