1962 Tilden Grid Feb. 28 Weather clear & cold, Ran traps at 7:30 a.m. no mice, no cats Feb. 29 Rain during lots of time in the afternoon and evening. Ran traps at 7:30 a.m. (1 Sorex in lower line, nothing in upper line). 0 cats. March 7 No rain - at last. At 4 p.m., set 80 Sherman on upper & rows of the Tilden Grid. Lots of green vegetation but not much signs of mice. No cats. Picked off 1/2 pint of scats on grid proper. also set 90 Museum Specula with peanut butter along 1st line at Inspiration Point. Saw 1 Muskrat while setting and a few other signs. March 8 Clear, damp, no frost. Grid 0 mice. No cats. On the Inspiration Point line 1 Sorex and 1 Muskrat. The shrew only preg & embryos. Left the grid traps and the Muskrat traps open all day (cool, sunny). Ran grid at 4 p.m. No mice. Saw 1 cat on the area (black & brown). Watched him for about 20 minutes while he covered about 300 yards in a V-shaped course. He kept moving most of the time; no powers. March 9 Ran traps at 8 a.m. Clear & misty. Grid had 1 shrew and 1 untagged Rattus. The 90 museum specials along ninety way held 3 Muskrat, 1 Rattus, 1 Sorex, and 1 Peromyscus. Left grid set. March 10 Ran grid at 8 a.m. Clear, windy. One untagged Rattus, 1 live Sorex, 1 Jerusalem Cricket. No cats. Picked up traps.
