1961 Druida grid. Nov. 26 at 4:30 p.m., puts 6q Sherman on rows B, D, F, etc of the Druida grid (forgetting 3). Considerable green grass at start of Benwick and L, and also rows A, B, and C forget 3 traps. Lots of tiny green mustard seedlings only a couple of days old. Ground damp. Picked up 1 pint scots. Nov. 27 Ran traps at 7:45 a.m. Only 6 Panther, nothing else. 4 of them already topped. Picked up scots along hidden firebreaks and diagonals. Fairly good coverage of the firebreaks not covered on the 24th and reflect on some of them leaves (1 1/2 gallon) almost all the collectors fairly new. Scots still conspicuous in spite of rains. Some scots covered with white hairy fungus. Saw 3 cats on the area and another between area and Brazilian Room. Moved Druida grid to rows A, C, E, etc at 4 p.m. = 72 traps. Clear. Saw a short-shinned hawk at Virginia crop on Nov. 25 and saw a Cooper Hawk? in oak tree W of pasture today, and also the cat (seen regularly still) Nov. 28 Morning clear, light frost in hollows. Ran traps at 7:45 a.m.: 7 Panthers and 1 Loxie. 6 of the Panthers were topped over. Left trap set. At 3 p.m. nothing in traps, moved traps to alternate sites (row L 2, 4, 6 etc, row K 1, 3, 5 etc). Clear. 72 traps Nov. 29 Rain during night. Morning cloudy. Traps at 7:45 a.m. held 8 Panthers, 1 Loxie, 1 Mustine. The Mustine had 3 or more ticks on each, spare for J. In checked clear runways, when released he wandered over country.
