Oct.21 Picked up 4 ft. of scats on Tilden grid. Oct.23 Light frost last 2 nights in hollows. Picked up 2 qts. of scats in Tilden, mostly along the only section of trail not covered on Oct.10+11. Saw 1 cat and 1 red-tail. In Orinda still hear great horned and Scream- owls. Killed Cooper hawk chasing pigeons. Measuring from an air photo taken 9/6/46, the area within my scat-collecting test is 35 acres. Oct.25 Contents of pellets picked up in field north of Orinda Pasture on Oct 9: 15 mice/turk, 1 rabbit. Contents of pellets picked up in Tilden Park Oct 10 and 11: 276 mice/turk, 35 mms, 26 Ratters, 4 lizards, 2 bird eggs, 2 skunks, 2 rabbits, many mole crickets. Included were 3 ear tags: 1109 Ratter June 21, Aug.26, (67mm on June 21) 1284 Ratter Aug 23 70mm, Aug.25, Sept.27, Sept.29 1464 ad. Mice/turk, Sept.26, Sept.29, Sept.30 Looked at vegetation on Tilden grid. The seedlings that came up after the first rain are all gone. There are a few green spears of grass rooted in with the perennial grass. Saw 1 cat on the Tilden grid Oct.26 Quite a sprinkling of green grass has come up in the lower left portion of the pasture in Orinda, Towler only the lowest line of the grid, and only the first few trap sites.
