1961 Aug 31 Ran traps at 8 a.m. Foggy in Tilden, clear in Orinda. Traps held 24 minutes, 12 deathrow, 13 mice, 8 Peromyscus maniculatus, and 1 Bero trui. Licked up traps. Inspected the 36 owl/pellete pellets up near the pasture a few days ago: 122 minutes, 5 gophers, 1 rabbit (track), and 1 mole cricket. One ear tag: an adult & micistna tagged at E 3 on June 26. Sept 5 Set # Sherman in Tilden park before ninety way; Oatmeal bait. Sept 6 Ran traps at 8 a.m. Orinda clear, Tilden foggy. 29 mice (released), 19 deathrow (tagged & released), 1 Bero mouse (released), and 23 mice (dissected). = 72 mice. Opened traps at 5 p.m. Sept 7 Same 80 traps at 8 a.m. (clear in Orinda, cloudy in Tilden) 33 micistna, 10 deathrow (6 of the recaptured from yesterday), 25 mice, and 2 Bero maniculatus = 70 mice Sept 10 Picked up & large owl pellets and some frequent, plus about 2 dozen carnivore droppings at bottom of Orinda pasture. Some of the pellets & droppings new over, other old. The owl pellets contained 45 micistna, 2 gopher, a few mole crickets. Sept 11 Picked up a couple of dozen carnivore droppings in field north of pasture and a few in pasture.
