Pearson 1967 Orinda. June 25 Ran traps at 6:30 a.m. Warmish, no dew: 54 Minsters. One of them dead, 15 of them tagged over. Released all. Set traps at all odd numbers at 8 p.m. = 72 traps June 26 Night clear, almost full moon, no dew. Ran traps at 6:30 a.m. 55 Minsters and 1 Mice^ 25 of the mice and 2 mole crickets. were tagged over (one of them and one other dead). Released all (tagged all). Moved traps to even numbers at 7:30 p.m. = 72 June 27 Night cool, almost full moon, breezy. No dew. Traps held 61 Minsters and 2 Mice. 40 of the mice were tagged over; 11 of the minced in traps and 7 of these were tagged over: Released all without tagging any of the new ones. Lincoln index for last 2 days of trapping: 125 x (55/25) = 275 154 x (61/40) = 235 The area covered by traps is 27,225 ft.² adding a margin of 22 feet (av. distance travelled by reftined mice) gives 6.00 acres. Dissected 39 Minsters that were dead in traps on grid. Neither 8 D nor 9 Q were breeding. Many of the adults with large encysted tapeworms in the liver. Many small ones under 20 grams; even one weighing 9 grams after it had been tagged for 2 days. Big males + females after butter or margery around the rumps.
