Sparks, Washoe Co., Nev.
June 9, 1932
Barn Swallows, 2 English Sparrows, and a
Kingbird were seen. Along road to Austin
Lizards (Cnemidophorus & Crotaphylites) were
seen commonly. Sage Thrashers & Brewer Sparrows
were noted frequently. 3 Shrikes were seen along
road. West of Austin at 1:30 p.m. a colony
of nesting Barn Swallows were found beneath
a bridge at Rose River crossing. Continued
on to Fallon where we ate dinner, just
several miles E of Fallon 20+ or yellow-
headed Blackbirds were seen at short intervals
along irrigation ditch where cut tails were
growing. Some S & M seen. Probably nesting
in Tephra growth. Redwings were the
most abundant bird along this area. West
of Fallon at ponds Wilson, Phalaropes, Red-
heads, Pintails, Cinnamon Teal, black-
necked Stilts & Avocets were seen. Night-
hawks were seen in numbers flying
above areas on each side of road. Stayed
at Sparks for night.
