Marchll 2049 taken in bushes or cleared hillside near camp - heard singing all am. - various "indri" - from brush - 4 all together spaced far apart - often 2 in earshot at sometime.
Song usually of 2 notes or 2 double notes, loud, somewhat rough: Kip kip, several seconds wait kli-up kli-up etc same phrase used for 5-10 min then change to another Delivered somewhat solitary wares, quality of black-headed grosbeak. Also another - probably in same bush : paired.
March15 ♂ 2097 singing early am. from top thistles in patch of brush on hillside cleared for wheat - very low brush & vines here. Mate seen (as above). Song chip chip, chewee. 1st staccato, last a whistle given about 3-4/min. Paired.
March20 Pair in blackberries & grass at camp. ♂ singing a call. 2:30.
March24 ♂ 2164 singing - with mate in bushes and camp - taken from little tree - stayed in interior.
Aprl ♀ 2242 taken w slope (pines) half way to San Ignacio. foraging in trail. Common; perices seen in roadside brush, usually with other birds - Melozone, wrens, etc.
