Marshall, 1942 Atlapetes gutturalis Mt. Cacaguatique Jan 10 ♂ 1729 taken when I shot thru a patch of dense humid type brush in the clear at edge facing on west side of highest peak (about 50' lower than "summit"). At dusk saw more (heard them rustling) by peeking into the interior of brush patches - apparently getting ready to roost. After Jan 10, heard their thin high mouse-like squeak or saw them every time I visited patches of humid brush on the summit. Couldn't collect because stay way in brush & can see only for an instant. 2 or more together. One seen foraging - hopped around over twigs beneath brush & apparently scratched ?? Los Esmeriles March 17 ♂ ♀ 2120 came into view thru dense bushes, vines, etc. on summit at division of high humid brush & cloud forest - where I was squeaking up birds - Heiniculus also. March 24 ♂ 2160 attracted by soft calls out of brush in ravine where small oaks & pines - high blackberry brush a pair. March 26 ♂ ♀♂ 2185-2187 taken at one shot fired into blackberry brush
