March 15 On edge slide in steep cloud forest
hill - in some dense bushes (at edge)
in am. coll. 2088. There were Chlorospingus
around & I couldn't separate the call of
the 2 sp. nor tell whether anymore
Diglossa - I shot another bird of unknown
sp. also squeaking but couldn't find.
This species was only 5' from gnd. in bushes.
In an open bushy area within cloud forest.
March 17 3 seen today - all in brushy areas near
edge cloud forest - 2117 at summit divide in
short tree left where brush being cleared;
another shot at 3 ft above gnd in brush edge
cloud forest with warblers & Brush-tanagers
which came to my imitated owl calls & squeaks.
2118 taken from brush edge sm cornfield between
1st & 2nd cloud forests - it was perched horiz
& warbler (others if worked thru foliage ~ warbles too)
& was giving a call like a sparrow chip but
I didn't recall the sparrow before I had lost
this impression of the call. All 3 - saw no-
others - but could have been in flocks - always
Chlorospingus around to confuse things - they have
a different call every time heard.
March 18 2123 & 7 shot taken in blackberry brush n-e slope with
Chlorospingus & Spinus - saw only the one. 300-500yds from cloud forest.
