Bombbycilla cedrorum
702 Eesomiles
March 20 Am. heard familiar squeal from top few oaks on 2nd growth cloud forest ridge. Saw one bird perched on dead twig in top tall oak, 1 min later another in ? place on another tall tree. Erect posture, squeal, tail bandisted.
Only 2 - didn't fly together - flew separately as Stirt & I were stalking them - we shot in flight but too far.
March 24 Flock of about 25 flew around camp in late afternoon - high. I fired twice & whole flock dove into bottom canyon & hid in brush. I went toward them down the canyon & the flew silently & in compact formation down the canyon, just over the brush. Very good & striking confused defence action!
March 31 On S slope in brush land (cloudy)
flock camp came to rest in evening in lone dense oak - I shot 8/2221 then.
