Feb. 24 In evening a little after sunset I was hiking up a long wooded canyon to owl hunt & heard many of these birds - always 2 together, then another 2 in the next 50-75 yards - at this time of evening the only bird calling conspicuous whereas had been overlooked in daytime hunting prior to this. Canary-like trill diagnostic altho similar to that of Tyrannus melancholicus is higher & more tinkling. Were very active - calling & making forage flights from high in trees - chasing each other around.
