Marshall, 1941-2 Sphyrapicus varius Mt. Cacagnatique Dec. 25-Jan. 16 Often seen in semi-cleared oaks (both scrubby type & giant cleared forest) and in places in finca where some native trees left (in pines). The least common woodpecker in the area. A total of 5 birds seen in the whole time. Los Esesniles March 15 Am. noted working on sapling in cloud forest.
