March 7 1933 taken by Stinton in cloud forest (dense)
on highest summit - one more seen.
March 9 1936-8 taken by Stinton & myself same place as above
loud calls & great variety - a high whee-oo,
2-syll. harsh call v red trogon, others - single, etc.
Rapid flights from perch to perch - high or
½ way up in trees - came readily to imitate
calls. Perch erect, long tail str down - motionless
when perched. At least 3 - not staying close
together but within call. Farther down -
several heard giving flicker-like & other calls
in next to lowest area cloud forest on
a slope. Tail v hanging cacti & other plants.
also wing coverts - well concealed.
March 15 2 heard, 1 seen in cloud forest trees - came to imit.
call - whistle whe-chew.
March 17 1 making at racket, variety calls - cu-cu-cu etc
in canyon back camp at lowest remaining
cloud forest here.
