Marshall, 1942 Cephalotus voriferus Los Escamiles March 9 flushed from fence rail (horiz) in daytime on summit - in, but on edge cloud forest. March 20 Heard in am. (several) & evening around camp - probably in brush patches - call definitely not clear whistle - not like record (A.R. Brand) - Could be imitated by whistly whip poser w/ rid & rolling - vibrating tongue at same time. pm. one shined on q'd on ridge in cleared brushy blackberry fern area - coll. 9 2042 sitting on 2 pure white eggs on leafy flat area between some bushes - open on down-hill side for alighting. March 23 9 2154 taken edge 2nd growth forest & field on stump where seen evening of 21st & 22nd also. Giving only the 'quiet' call. March 24 9 2165 taken at dusk from stump in clearing. Another shot - not saved - white throat. March 31 Common in pines on w. slope. 2 taken came up while I was giving owl calls. Were calling all night - full moon.
