Common in trees around open country.
2 pairs seen, apparently nesting. At one
nest tree in middle large cornfield were
3 - one sitting on nest, another perched,
3rd came from trees at edge field &
copulated with one on nest! Same place
where 1770 coll. Jan 22. Call a loud
harsh long rattle. Fly with shallow
wing-beats, head bill pointing down, neck
str out. Another pair at large
tall snag standing above dense low
Feb 24 forest & camp. Seen everyday - chased
by Micrastur semitorquatus early am.
Not seen at carrion except once or twice
at camp. Carrion put for vultures 25-yds
from 1st nest tree, yet didn't come.

Mar 29 One flew north over camp in evening.
