Geranoospiza nigra
Lake Oronoga
Jan 24 & 1786 (parakeet in storm) shot by Stinton
at edge clearing in jungle at near outlet
Rio San Miguel.
Feb 24 One seen in large tree overhead in
grove near edge lake & hacienda. Very sure.
Long slender red legs conspicuous & diagnostic.
Didn't have gun. It gave a call like
a red-tail only shorter & not as loud-very
distinctive in char. Presently flew & beat
around over field along edge to us in
large circles about 30 yds. above grd.
Wings very broad - floppy sort of flight,
not boignant - very slow.
