Marshall, 1942 Butor jamaicensis Mt. Cacagnatique Jan 3 ♂ 1672 taken as perched above road on dead oak snag in oak area extensively thinned. Jan 4 One seen pursued by sparrow hawk - flying low over clearing near haindels. Jan 5 ♀ 1686 Taken by Nate Geer from ridge of Mt. Black phase larger than costaricensis. - Pair seen over clearing several other times - fairly common. ♂ 1672 skin ♀ 1686 skin Jan 30 Lake Olomega ♀ in 1831 (bird, scinurus, grasshoppers) taken by Hildebrand in evening flying over open fields near shore. Loa Escondido Common - must have been a dozen pairs on the Mt. - Black hawk with white tail - Mt. Cacagnatique January 16, 1942 - 2 soaring high over finca - Blackish hawk with white bands on tail too limit of oaks 2 low on N slope January 11, below oaks.
