Chondrohierax uncinatus
Volcan de Santa Ana
April 18 in late afternoon from heavy forest (mostly alder) on Nth. side near summit heard a loud note repeated about every 30 sec.
Stalked very cautiously but couldn't find in foliage of trees.
Later heard again & saw black hawk - very black - fly rapidly into forest & perch on horiz. limb where I could only see its tail (spread just as it alighted) was long black & crossed by several white bands.
