Sarcorhamphus papa
Lake Olomega
Jan 26 or 27 them flap just soared with wings
straight out - leading edge of both wings
in same str. line as seen from below -
not tilt noticeable either. Wingspread not
much greater than turkey vulture if as
much but wings broader, body
much larger. Both adults - at least white below.
Feb 13 One seen soaring over jungle & cleared
land at N end lake in am. about 10.
day after Stuit shot dog
Feb 9 About 1:30 pm. clear day - great "tower" of
black & turkey vultures over dead dog
in cleared area fields near lake.
2 ad kept seen with them - always
at the top of the tower (about 75
in grifos
vultures) soared higher & then str. off
to N. to join another curling
column of blacks & turkeys also staying
at the top here. Finally whole column
moved off over W end lake & lost
to view.
- Tried to bait condors several times-
no luck. Apparently stay well up
in the colinas most of time.
Los Guemiles
