Common, but outnumbered by Coragyps.
Found more often soaring over higher
ridges - at times coming close to
ridge. Not around habitation as
is Coragyps - aloof, in 1's, 2's or
groups, but not swags mingled
with Coragyps. One day saw one
perches in interior of crown of
large oak during heat of mid-day.
Jan 22-Feb 24 Lake Olomega
Common, especially above ridges of the
Clines - outnumbered 10:1 by Coragyps
around flat country around lake.
Feb 6 4 flushed from dead peccari at edge foothills.
Feb 13 2 " " " porcupine in heavy and
forest in foothills. No coragyps.
Feb 15 4 or 5 at dead monkey in canyon back of
camp.
