Feb.12 Flushed 3 while walking along wash up long canyon to camp. Were in brush under trees & flushed when we were almost upon them - go off with loud whir & direct, bullet-like flight. Feb.16 In late afternoon, saw 1 in canyon above spring - walked along ground in direct line down to wash, & up next wall of canyon slowly, stopped still every few sec. Very tame, allowed close approach, made loud rustling in leaves as walked. Very hard to see after 40 yds. away - blended well. L. Olomega Jan 22-Feb 24 Summary: Common in Colinas de Jucaram along gullies in brush or bare leaved canyons & washes. Not in jungle or forest, or flat land around edge lake. Every evening (until dark) & very early a.m. could hear as many as 4 or 5 giving loud clear, uninflected single whistle-spaced out in the hills.
