very good place for certain birds not
found in dense forest: trogon,
Toluenus Tundus grayi & assimilis
(judging from call-notes), Myadestes
obscurus - abundant 3 or 4 singing at
same time - . In orig. forest
(with dense undergrowth) in under-
growth: t- Thryothorus rufalbus &
maculipactus In trees, edge forest:
Tyrannus verticalis, Myioctenes virius,
etc. Vermivora superciliosa abundant.
April 13 Hunted warblers in cypress & finca at
camp. On way back - then finca,
April 14 Myadestes, Cissilopa, Seterus,
T. grayi warblers (Bastantums?), or Centurus
etc common in one patch of finca.
Chaetura overhead & Melopone in
another place in finca.
April 13 Hunted warblers in cypress & finca around
camp where Saltator atricps, Seterus,
Grackles, Cowbirds, T. grayi Squirrel
Cuckoos, virius warblers etc.
April 14 P.M.: At evening hunted at n. base
Cerro del Navajos in oak forest & that
at Cacaquatique: gt. nos Crypturellus
whistling, many T. rufalbus. Cicata
virgata & Ostrichopsis began calling at dusk.
