Mt. Caraghizine, Dept. Morazan, El Salvador
Summary
receding from the breeding season. Only
Trogon violaceus, Troglodytes insularis
birds in song were Dendroica grisea
& Cyclarhis glauciventris (occasional) &
Jaturns chloropeter & Hylocharis leucotis.
Most of birds not on fixed Territories
-moving around in large flocks.
Distribution of Birds: Very few on fixed
territories - mostly big flocks found especially
with most species, around edges between
fines or oak or oak or brush-etc.
These flocks found in all habitats where
trees & also sometimes in high brush at
edge fines or oaks - seemed to wander
some moments, but flocks start out from same
places every day (one at the hacienda early am & returning late in afternoon) &
others found in some general area each
day - others seemed to move from
very one side of canyons to other : : not
definite conclusion concerning how far they
move - certainly all the birds don't move
far with the flocks - the jays & orioles move
farthest.
Birds seen in these flocks - not in fixed
habitats :
Trogon violaceus (accidental in flocks)
Ceophloeus hreatus almost always
Antagonychus grasinus sometimes
