General Asct mt-Cacaguajos, Dept Morazan, El Salvador Summary The succession on north canyon walls is definitely not the same as the arid brush on south slope - has dense glass, ferns, vines, bushes - resembles the "humid brush" more. Weather: 1st 2 weeks: clouds formed or blew in from n-e almost every day. 2nd 2 wks clear most of time. Slight rain only 1 night. Even temp. comfortable, but always sweat when walk, i.e. rather high rel. humid. Generally balmy & dry expect in deep canyon described above, altho dew seen early in am. elsewhere. Seasonal aspects of bird life: Only pigeons & doves & the last ps. Otus (thilopsis (a perhaps hummers) showed gonads in breeding condition. A falling-off of bird singing or display. Activities during stay, 1st 2 wks all birds calling, pigeons & doves cooing in early mornings woodpeckers drumming Hylocharis lencipts singing regularly. "mucks" crows calling at night (But was moon then). 2nd 2 weeks Hylocharis not singing regularly, Phloeastes not drumming, not much heard in early am. from pigeons & doves.
