Marshall 1942 General acct. Dec 31 mt. Caraguatigu, Dept morazan, El Salvador in an open parklike grove - Birds abundant here which not uniformly dist, in virgin dense oaks: Ixia Ixia, Balaenospyra. Many Canagers. Rather late in day, not many birds calling. Jan 1 am. hunted on a ridge of the coffee finca where newly planted & many native trees left for shade - some large oaks about 6 pines & some brush left on grd. An ideal "broken up" habitat with plenty of edges. Here a gt. mass of birds: jays, orioles, woodbrewers, flycatchers, Canagers, Tityras, woodpeckers, hummingers, thrushes.
