March 16 1940 at as edge creek
on west border of eucalyptus
grove, a varied thrush flushed
from ground where feeding with
juncos, a song sparrow, white-
crowned sparrows. Flew up creek
25 yds & alighted & foraged on
leafy hummus under dense overhead
cover of trees. Hopped several
steps stopped drew up erect then ahead
again, etc. Flew into tree where
I seen for about a minute.
