him before he stopped hooting.

still for about 10 min - silent
physmage compressed - especially
that around head - giving
square-headed, big-eyed appearance.
Eye-shine pinkish when farther
away. Finally moved to
horiz position and flew directly
away. Couldn't get him to
answer any more; as I moved
away from his terr., he followed
and answered about twice, then
silent.
Crossed tracks to a meadow
opening out from the a
side canyon in the western
ridge mentioned above called
for O.f. all time. Up
where the canyon narrowed
and the yellow pine and
black (?) oaks became denser,
got answer from ♂.
