Lidicker 1990 Apr 24 cont. At about 19:00 head for NYC on I95 + to Triboro Bridge to 125th St. arriving at Johnson's at ~ 20:00. Weather: warm & mostly clear; ho jacket needed until Old Greenwich Pt. Lots of Monarch Cloak butterflies active. April 25 Left ~ 11:10 for 125th St. & Triboro Bridge to Queens. Raining. Took Grand Central Parkway to Manhattan & then down to Sands Point between S Plandome. Took main St. to Hempstead Harbor (rain starting at that time). Roslyn to Meadowbrook Pkwy to Jones Beach. Returned after short walk to head to Southern Pkwy, went to Cross Bay Blvd. Took this across Jamaica Bay to Rockaway. We did not have time to stop at the sandy beach properties. Followed Beach Channel Drivn to bridge & continued into Brooklyn. Verrazano Narrows Bridge to Staten Island & across to Elizabeth, N.J. & Newark Airport. Arrived at Avis Rental car place at 16:50. Took M for London or Oslo 18:45. Memos: Lepus europaeus - dropping at Corry Arboretum Sylvilagus - " White-tailed Deer - I saw a doe. Muskrat - Corry Arch & Thompson Pond Didelphis - lots of DOR's Procyon - several DOR's Marmota monax - small seen alive & few dead. Blarina brevicauda - 1 ad. & lumpert in by Ostfield's cat. Sciurus carolinensis - lots seen.
