LIDICKO 1981 Sept. 4 cont. lunch in local restauracja. Then we went back to hotel and good discussion with Marek Sebczynski regarding his work on electrophoresis of bank notes, shrews and other topics. As they were being terribly bleeding rodents from the subterranean mines I offered to demonstrate the technique tomorrow. Back at the hotel I had a bath. At 2000 we had dinner at Puczek's and discussion until at least 2330. Michalyna (Miska) Puczek was an ex Lidingim folk dancer many years ago in Lublin. Sept. 5 - Hotel breakfast at Hotel Two by myself. Then Puczek gave a 1 hr. detailed tour of the natural history museum. On returning to the Zaktwal found that M. Puczek had dreamt last night about folk-dancing, including a feeling of floating or flying. Had long discussion with Edzister regarding program of Zaktwal. Want thrush colonies I as mentioned these three visit includes especially C1athronomyx glareolus, Micrurus catagaudis (catagaudis), and the Marchwinka Kamster. There 3 species they are trying to develop into domestication for several purposes. They also have many other species such a Pityngus antlermannus (including a pink-eyed dilution mutant), A1stornes, and several species of shrews. Marek was sick so did not demonstrate breeding techniques. Puczek says that the institute has a museum collection of 150,000 specimens but I did not have time to see it (he must have meant 1,500).
