I have collected Chacma Baboon at Kimberstein Farm, near Windhoek S.W. Africa, Graaf Renetl, Karoo, Gladysdale Farm near Krugersdorp in the Transvaal, Schieffontein, Manguvalus and Malepoble, Debeursland.
They are found almost any place where they can take shelter in rocky outcrops, and mountains.
I have seen them in many places in South Africa. However, most of my observations were made in South West Africa where they may be seen by the hundreds, where they have so much natural cover and protection.
They usually sleep in some branty or rocky shelter or cave in the mountains. In the dry season they make daily visits to waterholes. By the way rainy season, they do not come to water holes quite when they can get water in the field.
They are difficult to hunt because their telescopic eyesight make them
