thorn bush and small trees like
Mopane and Crocodile tree - the
natives say these Baboons are
fairly numerous here.
Nov. 9, 1950
Today I saw over 50 of these
Baboons crossing a large grassy
meadow. Many disappeared into the
forest while a few lingered behind.
I think one had been injured by
a native hunter and were trying
to help this one. This is the largest
troop of Baboons I have ever seen.
No measures them but found it
difficult to get a shot as the bush
was dense and they were on the move.
Finally shot a young one who was
watching me from a tree. As they
travel these Baboons make awful
noise, barking, squealing, and
crashing through the brush.
