arson Lepus saxatilis aurantus Example specimens - KM-10565♀, 18 Nov. 1923, Louisvale, near Uppington, South bank Orange River. 2600', Shortridge. Ears black tipped, ears grey, ruffs behind ears, greish around eyes, chin whitish, on top of head brownish grey, ears very long. Body a mottled ruffous brown, black streaks white flanks, white on rear legs, white belly throat brownish grey, foot pads ruffous brown. Lepus saxatilis subrufus Example specimen - KM-10558, ♀, 22/8/32, Junction Crocodile and Lalala Rivers, N. Transvaal, Chivers, HB-490, TI-85, HE103, ED-100. Ears brown tipped, ears brown, light fringe head brown, light grey nose, chin white, throat brownish, belly white, back mottled black, brown, sides mottled grey, foot pads ruffs.
