Small Grey Mongoose Genus species - Myonax pulverentis Tribe - Herpestini Subfam - Herpestinae Family - Viverridae Superfam - Feloidao Suborder - FISSIPEDA Order - CARNIVORA Example Specimen, Nov. 8, 1948 ♀, (4895) 12 mi S. of Sutherland, C.P. Alt. 4200-4800' Shortridge-Macoulay . 14.B-320, TI-280 HF-62.5, Ear-27. (partly from slater) Description - Brunigled grey above. Also a speckly grey, caused by long hairs being banded with alternate rings of black and white; a woolly under-fur dark brown at the base, lighter above; head and extremities slightly darker than the body naked area of various a narrow band hardly extending to the heel; tail bushy, not quite as long as body, hairs from 1 to 2" long. 3/3 + 4/4 2/2 Forefoot with 5 toes, claws short and black, Hindfoot - 4 toes. Hair of feet a black grey, Belly lighter and rather ruddy color on lower abdomen and below forelegs in chest area.
