White Cloud campground 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd) Nevada Co., Calif.
29 March I spent 0630-1230, 1615-1815 in the 1st study area. Daylight savings time has not yet started.
The sun first hit the tree tops at about 0640.
The ground was damp from either rain
or recently melted snow. I saw Douglas Fir
tips near F2, J-2, D4, G3, A1. Not many
were on the ground. New shoot growth was occurring
on the Douglas Firs and gusts of wind cause
Douglas Fir pollen to fly. In the morning there
were light clouds over 80% of the sky. In
the afternoon it was overcast. The high temperature
of the day was about 60°F, the low about 40°F.
30 March I spent 0645-0930 in the first study area,
along with my brother Erik. There was a light
rain last night. The sky was generally overcast,
with some blue showing through. Yesterday I
had covered some holes in the log near H-1
with needles - they were still there today.
