Koford, R. 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft, 11 mi E Nevada City (by rd), Nevada Co. Calif. 14 Sept. I spent 0745-1210, 1805-1925 in the 1st study area, seeing a couple chasers. I saw Gray Squirrels 9 times - once one chased another. The sky was -20% covered with lazy clouds in the morning, -10% rest of the afternoon. Wind to -15mph. Temp. 59° at 0740, 69° at 1430, 57° at 1930, 15 Sept. I spent 0800-1230, 1330-1650 in the 1st study area, seeing a chickaree chase. I saw Gray Squirrels 4 times, seeing 1 chase another. There was a low overcast in the morning, to below the treetops - higher in the afternoon. Light sprinkle of rain at about 1200, more at about 2000. I left and it kept raining in the area a few miles W of the campground. According to the weather reports, the next couple days will be rainy. Wind light. Temp. 47° at 0800, 51° at 1330, 49° at 1900. 12 mi N, 14 mi E Chilcoot, 5100 ft, Placer Co, Calif. 9 Oct. As a teaching assistant for Zoo 163, I came with the class to this area yesterday afternoon. We stayed at Sagehen Field Station, a few miles N of Truckee, Calif., getting there by Hwy 80 from Berkeley, then going N on Hwy 89 at Truckee. To get to this area, we took Hwy 89 N to Sierraville, then Hwy 49 E to Chilcoot. Only one paved road went N out of Chilcoot. We took it, then turned off onto a dirt road 1.2 mi N of Chilcoot, going E on it. I set traps 0.25 mi. E of the paved road after letting some students off about 1 mi.
