Koford, R. 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd), Nevada Co., Calif. 3 Sept. I spent 0625-0715 in the 1st study area, then a while longer without recording chirring calls, making recordings and working on a job. I'd caught. I set 6 traps by 0715, closed them at ~0900. I caught 1 chickaree, removed chipmunks 3 times. I saw 5 Gray Squirrel. Temp. 60° at 0620, 78° at 1200. Sky clear, wind light. 6) Sept. I spent 1827-1945 in the 1st study area, found a new family - young prob. not leaving the eagle yet. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 83° at 1700, 76° at 1950. 7 Sept. I spent 0740-1210, 1555-1850 in the 1st study area. I set 6 traps by 0715, closed them ~1800. I caught 1 squirrel, removed chipmunks 6 times. I saw 1 Gray Sq. I spent most of the day counting cones. Sky clear, wind light, but occasionally up to ~15mph. Temp. 65° at 0715, 88° at 1400, 66° at 1850. The cones of the ponderosa pine are much smaller this year, judging by the cores. 8 Sept. I spent 0655-1210, 1600-1806 in the 1st study area. Set 6 traps by 0710, closed them ~1745, removing chipmunks 8 times, an adult Beechey Ground Sq. once. I saw 1 Gray Sq. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 67° at 0650, 89° at 1400, 76° at 1745. I spent a while in the evening in the area of 114, but didn't take chirring call data. I continued the cone catalogue. 9 Sept. I spent 0714-1200 in the 1st study area, set 6 traps by 0755, closed them ~1115, taking chipmunks out 2 times. I saw 3 Gray Sq. I finished the cone catalogue. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 67° at 0710, 86° at 1300, when I left.
