Koford, R 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi E Nevada City (by xpt), Nevada Co, Calif. 25 Aug. I spent 0700 - 0920 in the 2nd study area, 0930 - 1225 in the 1st study area. The 2nd area had very few eaten cones on the ground. One Sugar Pine had a few cores under it, and a single Ponderosa Pine core under another tree. I saw one Gray Sq. in the 2nd study area, one chase in the 1st study area. Wind light. Sky overcast in the morning - a few sun rays around midday, then overcast again. There were light sprinkles a few times starting at ~ 0930, then almost constantly after 1800. 26 Aug. It rained much of the night - the radio said 1/4" fell at Blue Canyon. I spent 0750 - 1110 in the 1st study area, 1140 - 1950 in the 2nd study area. Water dripped from the trees throughout the morning. I saw one Gray Sq., heard another. There was a low mist in the early morning, then ~60% cover for most of the day, ~10% by 1730, clear by 1950. Temp. 55° at 0745, 70° at 1800, 58° at 2000. 27 Aug. I spent 0720 - 0945 in the 2nd study area. Sky clear. Wind light. Temp. 58° at 0715. 30 Aug. I spent 1830 - 1955 in the 1st study area, seeing a new 9 and finding her nest, finding a new nest for a marked 9. Wind very light, sky clear. Temp. 82° at 1630, 72° at 2000. 31 Aug. I spent 0640 - 1310, 1850 - 1955 in the 1st study area, plus a complete trip to check and close the traps. 8 traps were set b, 0718, closed - 1730. I removed chipmunks 8 times, caught an adult Breckley Ground Sq. I saw 1 Gray Sq. - it had hair missing
