Koford, R. 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4700 ft., 11 mi. E Necedan City (by rd), Nevada Co., Calif. 21 July I spent 0520-0915 in the 1st study area, but didn't take notes on chirs. I followed a F much of the morning, then made some recording. I saw 3 chesties. The F I followed evidently lived in the campground, but had her nest tree in the study area. 27 July I spent ~1.5 hrs. in the 1st study area, watched a nest oak. I think the jaws have been moved. No chirring data taken. It was clear, wind light. Temp. 87° at 1430, 79°-1200. 28 July I spent 0520-1050, 1107-1730 in the 1st study area, watching sq. E's jaws. In the morning and the afternoon. The 20 traps were set by 0750, 17 closed from 1115-1130, the other 3 at 1730. I caught sq. E, 2 adult, and 2 juv. Beechey Ground Squirrels. I saw 2 Gray Squirrel and a couple chipmunks. The light first hit the treetops at 0617. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 66° F at 0515, 88° at 1500, ~80° at 2000. 29 July I spent 0745-1235, 1737-2030 in the 1st study area. 20 traps set by 0820, 16 closed ~1230, 4 - 1750. I saw a Gray Sq. bury something. I caught 4 juv. Beechey Ground squirrels simultaneously, took 8 out of the traps altogether (some probably repeats). I also released chipmunks 3 times. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 68° F at 0740, 91° at 1400, 77° at 2040. 30 July I spent 0525-0710 in the 1st study area, watching a nest in the morning. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 70° F at 0520. DF was still spending the nights with her offspring.
