29 June are about 5 cc. long. Also, I've seen a very few Sugar Pine tips with strobili that have been cut - the ones on the trees seem to have released their pollen, probably recently. I saw a ? run after a ?, seemed to chase her. no tail moving. Sky clear most of the day, then ~50% cloudy in the late afternoon. Wind light. Temp. 71° F at 0730, 93° F at 1345, 79° F at 2000.
30 June I spent 0712-1200, 1350-1810, 1905-2030 in the 1st study area. The 18 traps were set by 0745, closed -1800.
The sky was overcast in the morning, ~80% clouds by the early afternoon, down to ~50% clouds in the evening. Wind light. Temp. 70° F at 0705, 89° F at 1345, 78° F at 2030.
1 July I spent 0735-1210, 1335-1650, 1900-2018 in the 1st study area. The 18 traps were opened by 0805, closed -1630. I caught 2 Beechy Ground Squirrels, and a Junco. In the evening, I saw PC go toward the rotting log - probably her kit nest is there.
The sky was ~20% cloudy in the early morning, ~5% in the early afternoon, completely overcast by 1600, and it started getting windy - up to ~20mph. A few raindrops fell, off and on, from 1120 on, and I could hear thunder once in a while. Temp. 68° F at 0730, 87° F at 1730.
2 July I spent 0720-1215 in the 1st study area. The cloud cover was ~95% all morning. The traps were open by 0745, closed -1200. Temp. 66° F at 0720, 80° F at 1400, when I left.
