Koford, P. 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi E Nevada City (Lyd), Nevada Co, Calif. 4 June that have a nest in the same tree intersecting. The 20 traps were set by 0705, closed ~1750. I saw a couple Gray Squirrels, chipmunks, and caught a Beechey Ground Sq. wind light. There were a few high clouds in the early morning, then it was clear. Temp. 63°F, 89° F at 1545, 73° at 2000 5 June I spent 0615-1050 in the 1st study area. I set the traps by 0645, closed them ~1045. I caught one marked Ø, which I released, and a squirrel that I think was a ♂ in that trap, also I saw a scrotal Ø go halfway into the trap, apparently without eating the peanuts. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 62° F at 0610, 84° at 1730, when I left. 28 June I spent 1711-1847 in the 1st study area. As far as I know, it hasn't rained since my last trip. Temp. was 90°F at 1500, 78° F at 2000. Sky overcast, wind light I saw a family of Beechey Ground Squirrels, several chipmunks, and a Gray Sq. Also, Evening Grosbeaks are still around - they must be breeding here. I don't remember them from past years. I think I heard juvenile chirring. 29 June I spent 0732-1210, 1348-1948 in the 1st study area, setting 18 traps by 0815, closing them at 1835. I removed Beechey Ground Squirrels 5 times - a minimum of 2 individuals. I've seen the distal tips (~10cm long) of Ponderosa Pine branches cut - the needles
