Koford, P. 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd.), Nevada Co., Calif. 28 May I spent 0517 - 1210, 1540 - 1810 in the 1st study area. At 0607, the sunlight first hit the treetops here. I watches a nert in the morning - 5 juus. Wind light, sky clear. Temp. 43° F at 0515, 75° at 1535, 56° at 1950. 29 May I spent 0537 - 1015 in the 1st study area. I've noticed the green Douglas Fir conelots on the ground for the last few days - I don't know whether the squirrels cut them. sky clear, wind light. Temp. 45° F at 0530, 58° at 1100, when I left. 1 June I spent 1640-1920 in the 1st study area. Apparently Dr Lx led her litter. Sky clear, wind up to -15mph. Temp. 82° at 1635, 67° at 1940. I saw 2 Gray Sq. in the campground. 2 June I spent 0505 - 1311, 1540 - 1825 in the 1st study area, setting 20 traps in the W part of the study area at 0630 - 0720, closing them ~1800. I caught a juvenile ♀ and a scrotal ♂. I saw 2 Gray Sq., caught 2 Beechey Ground Squirrels, saw a ♂ chipmunk giving alarm squeaks -30. high in an oak. The sky was clear except for wispy clouds in the morning and a light overcast (shadows still visible) around midday. Wind light. Temp. 52° F at 0500, ~80° in the early afternoon, 62° at 2025. 3 June I spent 0445 - 1315, 1515 - 1805 in the 1st study area, setting the 20 traps by 0650, closing them ~1745, catching a ♀. I saw 2 Gray Squirrels, a couple chipmunks, and a Cooper's Hawk plucking a warbler-sized bird. Wind light. Sky clear in the morning, heavy overcast in the early afternoon. Temp. 56° F at 0440, 80° at 1510, 66° at 1945.
