Koford, F. 1977 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (6 mi.), Nevada Co., Calif. 20 April I spent 0607-1145 in the 2nd study area, 1640-1845 in the 1st. I saw a couple masked squirrels in the 2nd study area. Many of the oaks are leafing out. The strobili on the Douglas Firs look yellow - maybe open. Sky clear except for a haze in the west around sunset that obscured the sunlight. Wind fo -15mph. Temp. 75°F at 1400, 54° at 1850. 21 April I spent 0635-1135 in the 2nd study area, 1613-1745 in the 1st study area. There was a slight haze in the morning, then clear. Temp. 48°F at 0635, getting to 75° at 1200, 66°F at 1750. Wind light. 22 April I spent 0655-0855 in the 2nd study area, 1610-1910 in the 1st area. In the morning yesterday, I heard a ? chir in an encounter with a ?, one of the few times I've seen that, if I have. Temp. to 75° at 1400, 56°F at 1915. Sky clear, wind light. 23 April I spent 0610-1250, 1310-1830 in the 1st study area, seeing a mating bout with 4 recognizable individuals. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. up to 81°F at 1305, 64°F at 1840. 24 April I spent 0734-0822 in the 1st study area. Sky clear, Temp. 60°F at 0900, when I left. Today DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME started. 4 May I spent 0837-1150, 1224-1922 in the 1st study area, setting 14 traps from 1250-1330, closed them ~1800. I saw a piece of Ponderosa Pine twig that had evidently been chewed by a chipmunk. The morning was partly cloudy, clear by 1100, then cloudy again, clear by mid-afternoon. Wind light. Temp. 38°F at 0830, 57°F at 1400, 46° at 1925 (It wasn't dark yet).
